Diwali Celebrations

I am really sorry for not updating my blog for the last few days. I have been really busy with various sorts of things and now the last fortnight seems to be a blur.
My sabse best friend, Mr Mandu was here in apunka ka Delhi for Diwali which really lifted my spirits. However, the busy guy that he is, it always becomes tough to catch hold of him. After some desperate efforts by me, which included ringing up his not reachable cell phone, visiting his house, searching for him in the market, I was finally able to have a tete-a-tete.
On Diwali day, me and Mandu met some of our old friends, well they were more of his friends and had become mine also during college day. We went to one of the guy's house and had a 3 hour laughing and leg-pulling session which was pue fun. Then I reached home and helped my mom light diyas had some puja and then a mouth watering dinner.
After that I went to Mandu's house and had a photo session as his dad had bought a new camera. Then had lots of mithai and burnt some crackers. All in all a simple but pleasant Diwali :)
Thanks to God for the simple pleasures in life

November 4 - Mock CAT 12 - Last One

I had my last CL mock CAT and I was pretty relaxed for this one. Started with quant and then did VA and DI.
The mock was easy and my calmness really helped. My scores are:
Quant: 31
English: 75 :)
DI: 40

Cleared all the cut-offs, though was lucky with the DI cut-off as the cut-off was exactly equal to my score
Got an ALL India rank of around 39 :)

CAT here I come!!!!

November 2, 2007 - ISB Interview

I had my ISB Interview scheduled for November 2, 2007 at Hotel Intercontinental, Delhi. The interview was supoosed to start at 1:30 pm. I left home pretty early, around 11:10 am and also reached the venue pretty early :). Took my mom along with me

Parking was absolutely shit and had a tough time finding a parking spot. The interviews were taking place at the business center of the hotel and waiting area was pretty small. I met another applicant over there. I cant recall his name, but he was working with Adobe and had done his engineering from HBTI. The guy was not great in communication skills but seemed to be pretty intelligent, gauging from his GMAT score of 750.

Well, the wait was not that bad and I met another stud guy. This guy had worked with the army for 10 years and was now working with ICICI Bank. The guy had a very pleasing personality, a very calming effect when he spoke and add to that a superb background. He had already converted IIM Ahmedabad PGPX....phew

We somehow killed time, and around 1:30pm we were given sheets, to write an essay on "Belief". We were supposed to write 100 words. I wanted to write a feel good essay and I think I fared pretty well.... was satisfied with what I wrote.

Then we guys were called for our interviews one by one. There were 3 panels and I was to be interviewed by panel 3. The guy from Adobe was called first for interview, then the army guy and then finally me by my panel. It seemed to me that my panel had taken a lot of time to review my application. My panel consisted of a firang by the name of Joe and an aunty, Ms Mahajan (cant recall her first name)

Aunty: Why did u leave EVS
Me: I had prepared for this one and gave a good answer
Aunty: Similarity between EVS and current job
Me: Blah blah
Aunty: How did you deal with a situation in EVS when a team member was not performing satisfactorily
Me: Blah blah
Aunty: How can you improve the training process at EVS
Me:Blah blah
Angrez: Still quiet
Aunty: Tell me more abt your current job
Me: This was the question that I was waiting for and jumped at the opportunity
Aunty: Seemed happy and asked me how industry market sizes are calculated
Me: A bit stumped but gave a good answer
Angrez: Gave another way of calculating market sizes
Me: I agreed with him and said that I had calculated it from supply side and he had calculated from demand side, both are correct
Angrez: Some questions on indian retail market and a market sizing question
Me: Answered and did calculations satisfactorily
Aunty: How good is your french and introduce yourdelf in French
Me: Did not have any fluency, but managed
Angrez: What is extraordinary about you
Me: Nothing extraordinary about me, but there are many things which are pretty good :)
Aunty: Any questions for us?
Me: I had prepared for this one
Panel: Thank you

Overall a good experience and there was a feel good factor to it. Fingers crossed....Save me God
